About
Founded by producer Cody Greenwood, Rush’s vision is to create content that shapes and shakes people, breaking boundaries and uncovering stories that are felt and heard long after people watch them. It has achieved this by working with some of Australia’s most distinctive filmmaking voices and fostering collaborations united by a passion for unique and cinematic visions.
The company’s documentary and short films have garnered international acclaim at festivals, including documentary ‘Under the Volcano’ which premiered at SXSW and was nominated for ‘Best Australian Documentary’ at the Sydney Film Festival. Distributed globally by Universal Pictures, the film tells the story of the legendary Beatles producer Sir George Martin and AIR Studios, the recording studio he built in the Caribbean in the 1980’s.
In 2025 Cody won the Australian Academy Award (AACTA) ‘Best Documentary’ for Stan Original documentary ‘Otto by Otto’, directed by Gracie Otto.
Most recently, Cody has produced ‘Birthright’ with director Zoe Pepper. The script was the recipient of Screenwest's premium West Coast Visions $750,000 production grant, and premiered at New York’s Tribeca Film Festival and Sydney Film Festival, with a theatrical release set for late 2025. The film has been announced as a Cinefest Oz $100,000 film prize finalist.
Rush Films produced Stan Original ‘Renee Gracie', directed by award winning filmmakers Frances Elliott and Samantha Marlowe, which won the Australian Directors Guild Award in 2025. She also produced Frances and Samantha’s award-winning documentary ‘Girl Like You’, which follows the raw and intimate journey of a young woman as she watches her partner transition from male to female. The documentary is streaming on Netflix and won the Australian Writer’s Guild and Australian Screen Editors Award for best broadcast documentary.
While Rush Films has previously been focused on documentary, the company is expanding its drama slate with feature film, Moodja, in development with Indigenous director Karla Hart, a Noongar woman she has collaborated with since 2014.
